Some people like to troubleshoot their video security system before calling a service tech. If a camera is not showing up on the monitor, first make sure its plugged in. Each camera has its own transformer and it should be warm to the touch. If there is still no picture you can take the video cable from the DVR and plug it in directly to the monitor and if you get a picture that would mean the input is faulty on the DVR. Make sure the video camera connector is tight and secure on the cable. Play back the recorded video on your DVR and see what time the camera went out. One time we did a service call at an apartment building in West Hollywood and after playing back the video we found that the camera had been stolen! The good news was that we recorded a great face shot of the thief,down loaded the image to a thumb drive and gave it to the police.
